COVID-19 Hospital Procedures

To our Ashworth Road Animal Hospital Family, We would first like to thank you for your support and understanding as we continue to navigate through the CDC recommendations and industry governing bodies for COVID-19. The well-being of our community (including you, your pets, and our staff) continues to be the top priority of Ashworth Road Animal Hospital and the driving force behind the decisions we have been making to continue to safely provide care for your pets.

Following recommendations from the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship, the American Veterinary Medical Association, and the Iowa Veterinary Medical Association, our lobby is closed to public access to help prevent community spread of COVID-19. We are still open and seeing appointments, but we are operating with "curb-side" concierge service to help keep everyone safe.

- We ask that you call from your car when you arrive to the clinic with your pet. The phone lines are frequently VERY busy during peak hours, so please be patient and call until you can get through.
- The receptionist will get you checked in and a technician will come out to your car to gather history and your pet. Please be sure your pet is either leashed or in a carrier. You can expedite your appointment by filling out the Curbside Information form available on our website.
- Our team will examine your pet and perform any discussed procedures and the doctor will call you to discuss the exam findings and any
recommendations.
- After your appointment is finished, the receptionist will be able to collect payment over the phone or come to your car for cash or check
payments.
- If you need a prescription refill or food, we will bring the items to your car when you arrive.

We understand that this is not an ideal situation for either our clients or patients and we know you want to be a part of your pet's care, but we are trying to do our part to decrease spread of this terrible virus and stay healthy. After all, if our staff get sick, we would need to shut down the
hospital until everyone is able to come back to work.

Our one exception to the curbside policy is for euthanasia. We are still offering client-present euthanasia, however only 2 family members can be present, masks need to be kept on AT ALL TIMES, and family members cannot be sick or have been sick in the 14 days prior. For more information, please ask our staff.

Take care of yourself and each other,
Jessica Merk, DVM, Owner
And the staff at Ashworth Road Animal Hospital
