Dear Jon: First I must ask you if you are planning to stay with friends and relatives or are you planning to stay in a motel? If you are staying with friends then you should make sure your pet is welcome. There are several things to consider. Do they have pets? Will they get along? Are there any allergic people in the house? If you are staying at a motel then you must make sure that they are "pet friendly". You can check PETSWELCOME.COM for such places. Second you must determine how your pet will handle the travel. If you are driving, you may want to take a test drive or two. If you are flying, test flights may not be as easy. There are medications for motion sickness if needed. Take along some of your pet's food and if possible some water from home. Please write back if you have any other concerns. The "DOC".
